Private residences, designed with discretion

Collected Worlds interior: a large artwork and weighty chairs anchor a generous setting, directly supporting the page's argument about art, scale and private residences

Pullenvale's appeal is privacy. Long driveways and mature bushland put real distance between a house and the road, and the residences here are often substantial in scale. Privacy can therefore form part of the brief as well as part of the setting. For owners who prefer their homes to remain out of the public eye, the studio signs confidentiality agreements on request and works comfortably through family offices or client representatives. Discretion continues from the first site visit to the final installation.

Large rooms need furniture with real presence. In a double-height living room, a conventional arrangement of sofas and occasional chairs can leave the space unresolved. A key piece designed specifically for the room, sized to its proportions and the view beyond, can bring the volume back to the scale at which people live. That piece might be a sofa drawn to the length of a window wall or a cabinet made for a particular collection.

Residences of this scale often hold significant art and collected objects, and these deserve to shape the rooms around them. I prefer to consider them at the very beginning, since a single artwork can decide the arrangement and lighting of an entire wall. The studio can source and acquire art directly, or advise on placement and lighting alongside a client's own art consultant. Pieces sourced for the house are received and checked at our warehouse, then held until the site is ready, so installation follows one considered sequence.

Private Pullenvale commissions can be discussed directly with the studio or through a family office or client representative.
